Plant to Plate Programme
GRO-FUN has been offering fun, practical vegetable growing workshops to Bristol's primary schools since 2008. The aim of the 'Plant to Plate' primary programme is to inspire children to grow and eat healthy food & bring them a chance to experience the joy of growing their own food, whilst reconnecting the 'gardeners of tomorrow' with where their food originates. Our workshops are designed to help support curriculum learning in an outdoor classroom setting whilst developing great life skills.
"An invaluable experience for both staff and pupils. Highly enjoyable practical learning."-Fionnuala Doherty-Easton C of E Primary.
We relish the delight we see on childrens' faces as they
watch how a seed develops into a bean or a tomato plant! For many
children this will be the nearest they have been to this most
fundamental element of living nature and goes some way to addressing Nature Deficit Disorder.
After successfull programmes in St Patricks, Easton C of E, May Park and Hannah Moore schools we are looking to sign up more schools for Spring 2012.
